unit 10

I would advise anyone who is writing a paper:
to start early
set up a schedule
get and stay organized
as you are doing research keep a separate page for references, (you will have it when you need it, and may not have to leave out good information because you can’t find the reference)
get more information than you think you will need
work on the paper a little every day
finish early so you can get someone else to check it for you.
The areas I feel I have strengthened in the past 10 weeks are using the library and organization.
The area I feel I still need improvement in regards to writing is staying on schedule.

Wow, it’s over and it went fast. I wish I could take a trip now, I need to relax some. It has been great having all of you as classmates; I wish you all the best.

Unit 9

How do I feel now that my paper is done?
Relived, nervous, tired,
Mad, why didn’t I finds something that was interesting to me, although I did learn a lot about my topic
Why did I procrastinate, I always do so I should have known better, I did the research early, but kept putting off writing the paper, so I was rushing to get it finished. Now I need to write the one for A&P, yes I put it off also. But at least it is interesting.
I would have had it finished earlier but we had a fire here and I was so sore from fighting it I didn’t feel like doing anything, heck I didn’t do anything.
But it is finished. I would have liked for the WC to look it over but too late now.
I still DO NOT like to write.
Chloe’s 3rd birthday is Saturday and we are having a big family party to celebrate her birthday and Halloween. Her birth family hasn’t decided if they are coming or not. I wish they wouldn’t tell her they are and then change their minds. She really likes her birth grandmother’s brother, so she will be disappointed if he doesn’t come. Maybe with all of our family and friends (83 people) there she will not notice if they don’t come. We will be busy cooking this coming week( got to feed ‘em).

Unit 8 the long stretch

I am such a ditz I forgot to respond to the comments posted to my blog. I apologize for the oversight. Sue thanks for the positive feedback. The comments on my page have been very supportive, when I first read the blog assignment I thought “there is no way I will keep blogging” but now I’m not so sure. Things have gotten back to as normal as normal is around here and I have a little extra time to do things, but do I want to sit here letting my rear expand or go to the park and play with Chloe? That is easy Chloe will always win that kind of contest (and it would certainly help the back side). But when Elmo has her attention I could throw a few lines down. It is a good way to keep up with people, yet it still seems kind of like an invasion of privacy. See, I can talk myself into a corner all too easily.
I still have a lot of work to do on my papers I have 2 due next week; I have realized that it is a lot easier to do the work when you are very interested in the subject. You would think that since I love reading so much writing would be easy but for some reason I seem to struggle with it in this class.

unit 7 peer review

I find peer review to be very useful once I get past being ticked off. Joking! usually those responeding to my draft have helped me out and with this paper I need all the help I can get. I just don't seem able to get my mind wrapped around this one.
Thier has not been any "Ah Ha" moments for me, I wish that there had been.
Nothing shocking or intriguing has shown up in my research so far, and i'm not going to hold my breath on it happening.

I know I have been on the negitive side of things lately, so much has happened lately I've had a hard time dealing with it all. But my little ray of sunshine is back to normal so it is a mad house around here again. Maybe I can get back into the swing of things. I hope that none of you get the virus that has been stomping us down around here, the doctor did say that it is highly contageous so be careful.

Unit 6

Hello everyone
boy has this been a horrible two weeks
My uncle died
Mother became sick(4 visits to the doctor, 1-1/2 hour drive one way)
my sister had 3 doctor appointments
and now Chloe has had a fever for 4 days and the doctors can't find a reason for it
but said it might be her heart again
MIGHT BE HER HEART what kind of help is that
today my computer has decided to be a jerk
all this has left me with very little time
and I fell so lost
until all this I had no problems with getting things done
now it seems that everything has gone to hick in a handbasket

Unit 5

• Discuss your personal writing process and see what others have to say about your style.
I don’t think that I have developed a personal writing style. I usually wait till close to the time that a paper is due to write it, although I do get the research out of the way earlier. I wish I were more organized about writing but nothing seems to help me in that department.

• If there was one thing about your academic challenges, what would it be?
Is it just me, or is there something missing here? You would think that someone would proof-read this stuff, or I really am missing the point

• How is school influencing your life at or up to this point?
Hard one to answer. Still not sure about the topic of my paper, Suzanne gave me a good idea.

Unit 4 (plagiarism)

After reading our blogs this week it seems as though we are all in agreement about plagiarism. It is wrong and should not be tolerated. Kelly really nailed it; it is theft and a lie. It is sad that it seems that in this day and time the children seem to be getting the message that theft and lying are acceptable ways to get their work done. For example remember a while back the reporter that stole someone else’s work and reported as his own, or the show (can’t remember if it was 60 Minutes or Dateline or one of the other news magazines shows) where the parents wanted the teacher fired because she gave the children a failing grade I think it was because they bought some of their work. Anyway the message to the students was it is ok to cheat, and plagiarism is cheating.
It seems to be a double sided sword out there. Companies preach honesty, but at the same time they are constantly in the news for stealing and cheating.
